Kensington Market

Kensington Market
This area in Toronto has as many nationalities as the United Nations, with a number of artists and aging hippies thrown in for good measure. In this neighborhood, people of all types live around an actual market, with produce stands, butchers, cheese shops and bakeries. Here, you can hit a patio for a fruit smoothie, nosh on empanadas, and then stock up on organic produce on the way home. While real estate in this neighborhood still veers predominantly to old Victorian houses (some reno’d, some not), modern lofts and condos seem to be the way of the future. A few new buildings have popped up in this part of Toronto, but the supply is limited so they tend to go quickly. To get a true feel for the area, drop in on one of their famous car-free Sundays, just be sure to park your SUV several blocks away.
